So, friends, how are you all? I hope you're doing great. In today's post, I’m going to talk about the game Paper.io. I’ll explain exactly how to play it in full detail. Let’s get started!
The Basics: Launching the Game
Let’s launch the game, and I’ll show you the ropes. When you first enter the game, you’ll see an interface where you start with a small patch of territory on the map.
You can track how much of the total map you’ve covered by looking at the bar at the top of the screen; right now, it shows 1%, meaning I’ve captured about 1% of the total area. Also, keep in mind that you aren't playing alone; there are other players on the map too. You can see how much territory they’ve captured on the right side of the screen, where their names or avatars and their coverage percentages are displayed.
How to Expand Your Territory
Now, let’s get to the main point: how do you actually expand your territory? To do this, you need to move out of your current area and then loop back into it.
Step outside your currently owned territory.
Move around to draw a line enclosing new space.
Re-enter your territory to claim the enclosed area.
Once you return, a line will be created here; any area enclosed by that line becomes part of your territory—meaning your territory expands. Let me demonstrate: I’m currently inside my territory. I step out, move around a bit, and as soon as I re-enter my territory, the enclosed area becomes mine. That’s how you can expand your territory.
The Ultimate Risk: Staying Alive
However, there’s a catch. You need to understand this well, because going far allows you to capture a large area at once, but it also heavily increases your risk.
If you step outside and—before you can re-enter your territory—another player crosses the line you are drawing, you will die, and your game will end. So, you need to be careful not to venture too far away.
Stealing Territory & Eliminating Opponents
Similarly, if an opponent steps out of their territory and you cross their line before they can get back in, they will die, and their territory will be added to yours, significantly increasing your occupied area.
“Watch this: I step out, but before I can re-enter, an opponent crosses my line, and I die. That’s how it happens.”
So, you have to play carefully. Let’s jump back into the game, and I’ll show you a kill. As you can see, I’ve re-entered the game... and look, I can see an opponent right here; he has just stepped out of his house. Let's move in and cross his path—there, I've crossed it. With that, the house and territory that belonged to him are now mine.
There is a way to claim an opponent's territory without actually killing them. To do this, you need to step out of your own area and move slightly into theirs. But keep in mind: another player tried to take my house, but he didn't notice where I was. Had he seen me, he wouldn't have come.
That’s how you can expand your own territory: by eliminating opponents and seizing the space they held. You have to learn how to take out others; it’s the only way to win the game.
If you don't learn this, you won't succeed, because the goal is to capture 100% of the map's territory. You only win once you've covered the entire area!
